The Korean singer Rain descended in Kaohsiung, causing the second-largest city in Taiwan to become paralyzed by a swarm of fans that came out to welcome him.

Rain arrived in the Taiwanese city on Thursday night for his performance, titled "Legend of Rainism."

Even though his arrival time was 10 p.m., some 500 fans gathered at the airport to see the Korean pop idol.

The airport pooled a number of security guards to maintain order, according to the JoongAng Ilbo Saturday.

A number of Taiwanese media outlets also dispatched reporters and TV crews to the scene.

The city's major Qu Ju also showed up in person at the airport, introducing Rain to the fans. Rain responded by saying "It's my great pleasure to visit Kaohsiung" in the local Taiwanese dialect.
